The Daily Telegraph printed a great story about the area of Fayence in the South of France. The Canton of Fayence is a collection of villages (including Fayence, Montauroux, Tourrettes, Callian, Seillans and several others), just to the West of the Riviera, about 30 minutes or so from Cannes. This area has become very popular in the last decide or so because it is a great compromise between the Riviera and Provence. This article really covers why this area has become such a hit with overseas buyers.
Fayence was once the home of Christian Dior and, in fact, the company bought back their founders chateau in Fayence a few years ago and it now plays host to many fashion functions throughout the year. This article contains a property and many quotes from Home Hunts including:
“This has always been quite a French area, but it has become more international over the past ten years” says Tim Swannie of buying agent Home Hunts “The Terre Blanche golf and spa resort has a lot to answer for that, as when it opened around 10 years ago it was a Four Seasons resort and brought a lot of international clientele to a previously fairly unknown area”
You can also get a lot more bank for your buck, he says. Prices are cheaper here because you’re in the Var department (83) rather than the Alpes Maritimes (06) so owners don’t get that all-important Riviera postcode “this area simply isn’t as well known” he adds, “but prices are definitely starting to increase”
