With few homes changing hands, buyers of homes in the hill towns and villages along the Côte d’Azur, including Mougins, Valbonne, Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Saint-Paul-de-Vence, are securing good discounts.
“A year ago, homes were selling for the asking price; now they are going for 5 per cent to 10 per cent below, sometimes more,” says Tim Swannie, director of Home Hunts, an agent specialising in the south of France. Thanks to lower prices than the traditional Riviera hotspots such as Cannes or Antibes, inland homes within an easy drive of the coast have long appealed to those seeking larger homes or a quieter summer season experience.
