Interesting article about the French Alps property from the Financial Times. The journalists talk about the challenges created by the lockdowns and quarantines for 2020 for the ski resorts in the French Alps, and what knock-on effect this has had for the French Alps property market

There article includes input from Home Hunts and many of our partner in the French Alps – ‘Jeremy Horner of Home Hunts, an estate agent that works with both French and international buyers, says that at resorts such as Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz, which have come to rely on foreign buyers in recent years, purchases have slowed considerably. “The French came to associate these areas strongly with the British clientele.”

Ski resorts that are traditionally popular with French visitors — including La Clusaz, Manigod, Saint-Jean de Sixt, Le Grand-Bornand — have seen strong sales since June, says Horner.’

It also goes on to say that demand over the summer was highest in the large towns a short drive from the mountains, such as Annecy in France and Evian-les-Bains, just inside France on the southern bank of Lake Geneva.
